In the ever-growing world of Fire Emblem Engage, the February 8 DLC drop added three Emblem Bracelets, and among them stomped Hector, one of the three heroes of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. By 2026, this map still makes veterans sweat. The Divine Dragon Alear and their allies must face the Brash General to claim Hector's bracelet, and the old saying rings true: heavy is the head that wears the crown—or in this case, the armored general who refuses to budge. Hector is an Emblem Linking partner for Lyn, another Blazing Blade hero, but before players can pair them up, they have to earn it.

Players start this DLC map with a selection of eight Fire Emblem Engage units. They should choose a balanced crew with a variety of unit types, because the battlefield throws all sorts at them. Bring a couple of mages—Hector has very low Resistance, so magic is the ace up their sleeve. The map features several purple caves, each spewing poison gas that damages any unit in the path, enemy or friendly. Players can use this to their advantage: lure enemies into the gas, or position their own units to avoid it while letting Hector's cronies choke on the fumes.
The enemies faced depend on the difficulty setting and story progress. Players should keep their eyes peeled for crit weapons, magical weapons, and advanced units. They should check each foe before committing. The level of the player's units also changes how many Revival Stones Hector has when the battle begins—he can have one or two. That means the team might need to kill him twice, or even three times if they count the first life. No pain, no gain.
Hector is armored, unbreakable, and anchored. He has a mountain of physical defense but paper-thin magic defense, so exploit that gap. Here is the full rundown of his attacks and passives:
| Ability | Effect |
|---|---|
| Storm's Eye (Engage Attack) | Grants immunity to break, prevents the foe from following up. Hector then follows up if able. Lasts 1 turn. |
| Follow-Up Condition | If Hector's HP is 80% or more, he always gets to follow up if his weapon allows. |
| Heavy Attack | If his weapon is heavier than his build, he gains up to +5 attack. |
| Adaptability | When attacked physically, he gains Def +2. When attacked with magic, he gains Res +2. |
| Impenetrable | When someone attacks him, he gains 50% increased Def and Res. |
His weapons are equally nasty. The Wolf Beil Axe is a strong axe with bonus damage against cavalry and armored units. The Runesword restores his HP and has a range of 1–2. Armads is a lightning-charged axe that gives +5 Def and is effective against dragon units. If Alear is a dragon, the team must watch out—Armads will make them pay.

The moment the battle begins, several staff users with break staffs will immediately break the team's units. Players should keep this in mind when moving forward into attack range. A broken unit can't counterattack or follow up, so they should not let their best fighters get caught with their pants down. At the end of turns 4 and 7, more units spawn near where the team entered. Once the team's units step into the lane where Hector is, he will engage and begin to move forward. That is the point of no return—the calm before the storm.
There are two possible bonus dialogue situations. One triggers when Divine Dragon Alear engages Hector for the first time. The other happens if the team beats Hector while in possession of Lyn. These are nice rewards for fans of The Blazing Blade, and they add a little story flavor to the brawl.
There are four chests in Hector's chapter, and thieves to go along with them. One thief in the middle of the map moves toward the treasure as soon as the team starts moving close. If they want all the loot, they need to move fast—or bring their own thief. Here is what waits inside:
-
Chest 1: Elixir
-
Chest 2: Draco Shield
-
Chest 3: Pure Water
-
Chest 4: 2,000 Gold

For 2026 players revisiting Fire Emblem Engage or picking it up for the first time, Hector's map is a test of patience, positioning, and magic damage. They should use the poison caves like a chessboard, keep their mages safe, and not let the Brash General's high defense fool them. With the right team and a bit of luck, they will snatch that bracelet and add Hector to their Emblem roster. Fire Emblem Engage is available for Nintendo Switch.
